RECOVERED ARTIFACT: SINGLE FARE SUBWAY TICKET
LOCATION: PICCADILLY CIRCUS STATION // BENCH 4B // SEPT 28 2026
[Standard London Underground card. Reverse side covered in hasty felt-tip marker script.]
The train wasn't late; the tracks were just waiting for the station to stop moving. When the third carriage doors opened, I saw oak leaves blowing out onto the platform—leaves from a tree that hasn't grown in England for ten thousand years. The air tasted like electric ozone and dried copper pennies.
"When the clock on platform two runs backward for seven beats, do not step onto the train to Heathrow. Step through the hollow trunk behind the ticket machine. The Bees are waiting in the branches, and the sun under the earth is waking up."
My phone screen froze on 08:14 AM. A girl wearing a red coat walked straight through the tiled wall behind the newsagent booth. Nobody raised their head from their newspapers. Everything is true, and the morning commute is just a dream we're all too tired to break.
